With iOS 10 came a ton of new features, one of which was the behaviour of the home button. Previously to unlock your iphone in iOS 9 you had to physically press down on the Home Button, but now you can unlock your iPhone or iPad by just resting your finger on the Home Button.
But for those who don't like the new behaviour of the Home Button, don't worry since it's easy to change.
With the lockscreen awake, simply rest your finger on the Home Button and the device will unlock. However, to disable this behaviour and revert to physically pressing the Home Button then simply follow the below steps. With it disabled, you'll have to rest your finger, then press the Home button. If you go straight from the lockscreen when the device is asleep, you'll need to rest your finger for a second and then press the Home button. It'll then unlock, whether you have Rest Finger to Open enabled or not.
• Launch Settings from your Home screen.
• Tap General.
• Tap Accessibility.
• Tap Home Button.
• Tap the switch next to Rest Finger to Open.
With the move to a taptic Home Button on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple has also introduced various settings to modify the feeling of the Home Button. More specifically, the feedback that you get when you 'press' the Home Button to simulate a press, since it doesn't actually really move. The click you feel to simulate it being pressed is actually a vibration generated by the new taptic feedback engine. The intensity of this feedback can be changed based on your preference. Changing this is very easy, just follow the instructions below:
• Launch Settings from your Home screen.
• Tap General.
• Tap Home Button.
• Tap 1, 2, or 3. You can press the Home button each time to test how each setting feels.
• Tap Done in the top right corner when you're satisfied with the intensity.
The new Home Button in iOS 10 can be
customized to your liking using the above instructions.
