    How To Play YouTube Videos In The Background Of Android And iOS Devices

    This small trick will allow you to play YouTube videos in background, both on your Android and iOS smartphones.

    YouTube is popular video streaming service that most of us use on a daily basis to listen to music, watch videos and more. The platform is also available on Android and iOS, and can also be launched via a mobile browser. However, you cannot play the video or listen to music when the app or browser is minimized. While the official app doesn't allow you to do that, there are third-party apps that you lets you play YouTube videos in the background.

    Officially, only YouTube RED subscribers get the added advantage of watching ad-free videos, and uninterrupted access to play videos in background. However, YouTube RED subscription isn't available for users in India. But there are a couple of tricks that let you enjoy playing YouTube videos in background on Android and iOS devices. Let's take a look at how to do it.

    How to run YouTube videos in background on Android

    The official YouTube app and Chrome browsers do not allow you to play videos in background, but you can install Mozilla Firefox browser from the Google Play Store to get it working. ALSO READ: YouTube desktop site revamped; brings material design, dark theme and more

    Once Firefox is installed, open it and head over to youtube.com. The site will open as mobile version so you will have to tap the three dots (menu button) on the right side of the URL bar. In here, tap on 'Request desktop site' checkbox.     How to run YouTube videos in background on iOS

    Until iOS 10, this trick worked on Safari browser, but it no longer works now. However, there is a workaround for the same. Head over to Apple's App Store and download Opera Mini browser. ALSO READ: PSY receives Diamond Play Award for reaching 10 million subscribers on YouTube

    Now, open the Opera Mini browser, search for a video, tap on it and play in full-screen mode. Next, minimize the browser by pressing the home button. Slide upwards from the bottom to bring up the control center and slide from right to left. Now, tap on play button here to continue music playback in background.
