Youtube has further cemented its spot as the largest video platform in the whole world. The company's CEO Susan Wojcicki recently annouced that YouTube now has 1.8 billion registered monthly users, which is a significant increase from June 2017's 1.5 billion logged-in viewers.

This amazing milestone was made known to public at the Brandcast event where it was confirmed that in the space of 10 months Youtube has increased its monthly user base by 300 million, reaching the 1.8 billion mark just recently. Interestingly, this figure doesn't include viewers that do not have a YouTube account. Wojcicki didn't point out the number of unregistered users on the video site, but if included, it should bump the monthly viewers to 2 billion.

The CEO did stress that YouTube aims for steady growth, reason they employed 10,000 moderators that will manually review videos on the site – a total of 8.3 million videos were deleted in Q4 of 2017. The platform will also be adopting no-nonsense policies and guidelines, and new machine learning technology for improved experience. In addition, the company mentioned some of its recent successes which includes the 41 million livestream record set by Beyoncé at Coachella and the “Despacito” video which has over 5 billion views, posing as the most-viewed video on Youtube.
