Gmail For iPhone To Warn You From Suspicious Links

If you've been using the internet long enough, there's a good chance that you are probably well-versed in the more common scams that are finding their way online, such as spam emails with phishing links. However sometimes these emails and links can be disguised pretty well, meaning that even the best of us can get fooled now and then.

Not too long ago Google ran into some issues with phishing with Google Docs and has since beefed up its security, and the good news is that they're extending that protection to cover Gmail users on iOS devices. It seems that if you use the Gmail app on iOS devices, the app will now be able to warn users if the link they just clicked on is a potential phishing scam.

According to Google, “Going forward, when you click on a suspicious link in a Gmail message on your iPhone or iPad, we'll show the warning below. We recommend that you use caution before proceeding, because the link is likely unsafe. Only proceed if you're confident there's no risk.”

Of course Google isn't always 100% correct and if you have visited the website before and are familiar with it, then you probably know best. However if you're visiting a website for the first time, then we guess it's better safe than sorry. This feature had initially made its debut on the Android Gmail app, so it looks like it is now finding its way onto iOS devices
