Each DVD sector contains 2,418 bytes of data, where 2,048 bytes of that data is inputted by the user. A disc has a 10.5-nm laser reading mechanism. VHS CASSETTE
IMAGING
The image quality of VHS was much poorer compared with DVD. DVDs usually have a 720 pixel wide frame and it was better than the 250 horizontal pixels that VHS could barely manage.
Colour was also a big limitation in the image quality. It mixes together the two colour difference signals, which means that the colours interfere with the black and white signal.
DURABILITY
A big disadvantage of VHS cassette tapes was the fact that the more they were played, the weaker they became. Wear and tear was a big problem with VHS. The deterioration of the tape worsened the image quality, until it was was too damaged to be played.

√ Some DVD players and drives can't read CD-Rs.
√ Some DVD players and drives can't read recordable DVDs.
√ Most DVD players and drives can't read DVD-RAM discs.
√ Very few DVD players can play in reverse at normal speed.
√ Variations and options such as DVD-Audio, DVD-VR, and DTS audio tracks are not supported by all players.
√ Vagueness of the DVD specification and inadequate testing of players and discs has resulted in incompatibilities. Some movie discs don't function fully (or don't play at all) on some players.
